Hi

Cool pictures! I used to hang out at the "Amerikanische Siedlung" all the time. It really was like being in the US. I still live close by and I'm really sad it's gone. The shops, the cinema, sunday brunch, American Cafe, Ranch Keller, Baseball etc. and of course the people!

Living in Bonn

I lived in Bad-Godesberg with my family during 1977-1981. Graduated from Bonn American High School. I loved living there and make a point of traveling to the area every couple of years.. Thanks for the photos.. Have you checked out bahs.org?

Hello Omer--

I found your photo albums online when I was researching the former Israeli Embassy in Bonn. I lived on Simrockallee between 2002 and 2004 and I'm trying to learn the history of the Embassy for a memoir I'm writing about being a Jewish American who moves to Germany at the height of Europe's most anti-American/Israeli period since the end of WWII. (My daughter was a student at BIS when it was at its worst/in transition but that's another story.) In any case, it sounds like you might have some information about the Embassy before it moved to Berlin and the building became vacant (when I moved to Bonn in June 2002 it was abandoned and when I left in Aug 2004, it was about to open as a business center.

If you'd be willing to share some stories, I'd be grateful. My email is bshover@utoledo.edu
